Get Your Michigan Builders License!

If you want to get your Michigan Builders License, 60 hours of pre-licensing education is MANDATORY. The state of Michigan has issued the mandatory requirement as of 06/01/2008.  Students need to visitwww.MichiganBuildersTest.com before applying to take the Michigan Builders Test.  


In order to apply for licensure as a Residential Builder, you must pass both the Business and Lawexamination and the Practice/Trade examination and make application to the Department within one (1) year from the date a passing score is received on an examination.  In order to apply for licensure as a Residential Builder, you must pass both the Business and Law. This examination is CLOSED BOOK, NO reference materials 

are  allowed in the examination center.


The test will cover several subjects such as: REGULATORY AND STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS, PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION, INSURANCE, BONDS, AND LIENS, FOOTINGS AND FOUNDATION WALLS, and more. All subjects required to pass the Michigan Builders Exam are covered bywww.MichiganBuildersTest.com.

  1. If you are renovating homes or child-occupied facilities that were built before 1978, you must take an eight hour certification course and become certified as a Lead Paint Renovator.
